Mr Tommy Chan qualified in 2009 at the University of Salford with BSc (Hons) degree in podiatry with a keen interest in the surgical management of foot and ankle conditions. In a short space of time he became a specialist podiatrist for Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust managing musculoskeletal foot and ankle pathologies. He went on to complete a Masters in the Theory of Podiatric Surgery with the University of Huddersfield, and also gained valuable experience as a staff podiatrist at the highly reputable Department of Podiatric Surgery at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. In 2014 he was appointed as the Surgical Trainee in Podiatric Surgery, where he completed his surgical training in 2017, gaining the prestigious award to Fellowship of the College of Podiatric Surgery. He continues to work and complete his advanced surgical training with Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust at Mexborough Montagu Hospital at a senior level. He is also a Podiatric Surgeon; Specialist Registrar in Podiatric Surgery at Holywell Healthcare, Chesterfield.
Tommy is a highly skilled and experienced clinician using a range of interventions as appropriate for the individual including the use of local anaesthetic and corticosteroid injections under diagnostic ultrasound where appropriate. Tommy is experienced within the field of sports podiatry, managing elite professional athletes through to the general sports enthusiast. His attention to detail is evident during his biomechanical assessments where customised orthotics are required. He has consulted and worked with athletes from a wide range of sporting backgrounds, including professional football teams from the Premiership, Championship and League One.
